BROADSTONE CONSERVATION AREAS

BROADSTONE CONSERVATION AREAS.

Broadstone's two conservation areas, the Ridgeway and Broadstone Park Conservation Area and the St John the Baptist Church Conservation Area were designated in October 2004. In creating these conservation areas it was recognised that the buildings, sylvan landscape and public open spaces contributed significantly to the character of the local environment. At the time it was accepted that further work should be undertaken, not only to assess whether there was a case for extending these areas but also to provide the necessary detail to inform future planning decisions. That work is now almost complete and ward councillors have been involved throughout the process. The draft report will be ready by the end of June with the final report going before committee on 16th July. Following intensive public consultation it is likely the report will recommend extensions to both conservation areas, especially in the vicinity of Golf Links Road.
