Phone Masts loophole11.15.27am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Apr 2007 The siting of phone masts can be highly controversial as Broadstone residents have demonstrated. However Poole Council looks likely to make it even more so. Cllr Mike Brooke has found a loophole in the planning system that allows 'prior-approval applications' to by-pass the planning committee. As a result residents lose the right to argue their case in public. Cllr Mike Brooke said, "This is totally unacceptable. Planning decisions should be open and transparent and the Council should not stop residents presenting their case to committee."
Mike plans to debate the issue at next Full Council in April. In the meantime let Mike, Graham or Dan know your views by completing and returning the comment slip to our Free Post address.
