SAFER ROUTES TO SCHOOL - NEW SIGNS

10.39.23am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Apr 2007

New school signs for Clarendon Road are likely to be approved at the next Area Committee on April 11th. The junction with Lewesdon Drive has developed into a potential danger area for children at Springdale First School because of high volumes of traffic at school times conflicting with through traffic on Clarendon Road.

Cllrs Mike Brooke and Graham Mason have negotiated two new "School" signs to be located either side of the junction. "This is good news" said Mike who had also been responsible for the electronic SID on Springdale Road. The photograph shows Mike with Head Teacher Karen Gillis at the launch about two years ago.
